Experience
I have teaching degrees from both Texas A&M-Kingsville as well as The University of Texas at San Antonio. I also have a certification for teaching children up through sixth grade and recently earned my principalship. Currently I hold a job teaching third grade, but I have experience throughout all levels of elementary school. I have high standards for my students, but I do understand that each individual learns in a different way. My strategy involves first getting to know each student on a personal level so I can then tailor my lessons in a way that helps them learn best. All of the complex topics that we cover can be understood in many different ways, and it's my job to understand what works for each student and then relate the material to them in a way that makes sense. I expect students to be prepared to learn each day, and I have strong organizational skills that I hope to pass on to everyone I teach. When I'm not in the classroom, I like staying active by hiking, kayaking, running, fishing, and playing with my dog. I also enjoy losing myself in a good book.
